Notes

Does not take season 2 into consideration, in case this is the first part of this series you're reading.

I did forget the English word for ‘slow dance’ for a moment and wrote ‘presser’ instead (the Swedish word for slow dance is ‘tryckare’, literally translated to ‘presser’, cus you’re pressing yourself against each other as you dance). The Swenglish is strong within me this past week.

The next part will be the last one.

When Charlie knocked on the door to Lucifer’s tower, she didn’t get an answer. She knocked again, but the silence stretched on. Was he up already? She was certain he had stayed at the hotel last night.

As she walked back down, she smiled as she spotted Husk exiting his room, closing the door behind him. “Husk! Good morning! I hope you slept well.” She glanced around the corridor, but they were the only ones there. “Have you seen my dad?”

Husk stared at her in silence for a moment, before shaking his head. “Last time he spoke to me was last night.”

“Oh, okay.” Charlie pursed her lips, shifting back and forth between her toes and her heels as she considered where else Lucifer might be. “I should check the kitchen.”

“You do that.”

As Charlie jogged down the corridor, Husk opened the door back up again, returning to his room.

Husk let the door slip shut behind him. As his eyes wandered to the bed, he found Lucifer awake, sitting next to a still sleeping Angel, hands covering his face. At the quiet, drawn-out groan, Husk let out a silent laugh.

“You heard that, huh?”

Lucifer nodded, hands moving up to his hair to rake through his bedhead. “I need to tell her. I can’t make you lie for me.”

“Technically I wasn’t lying.” Husk sat down next to him, eyes drifting to Angel, who was curled up on his side, face half-buried in Lucifer’s thigh.

Lucifer chuckled. “What are you, fae?”

Husk’s attempt at keeping his laugh quiet made the bed shake, and they noticed Angel stir just a moment later. Pulling himself up, Angel nuzzled Lucifer’s neck, his chest pressed to his back. “What’cha talkin’ ‘bout?”

Lucifer raised a hand to card his claws through his hair. “That I should tell Charlie about us.”

He felt the vibrations of Angel’s low hum against his skin. “Yeah, pro’lly.” Angel leaned his chin against the top of his head, wrapping his arms around him. “You’re not gettin’ rid of us anytime soon, so might as well tell her.”

“I don’t even know how to start,” Lucifer groaned. As he felt himself get hoisted into the air, he yelped. “Angel!”

He heard the mischief in Angel’s voice as he was held off the ground, tiny hooves dangling. “I say ya wash all that overthinkin’ outta your head with a bath, then we figure shit out after breakfast.”

Angel’s grin turned to Husk. “I know ya were about to leave, but I think ya still got time to join us, if ya want.”

Husk watched them, Angel standing on top of the bed with Lucifer in his arms like a ragdoll, letting himself be held around his waist and chest by Angel’s long arms.

“Yeah, sure, why not.”

When Lucifer raised his arms above his head to pull his sweater on, a pleasant shiver ran through his body as he felt a claw run along his spine. He tugged the sweater over his head, turning to look over his shoulder, catching the grin on Angel’s face. Lucifer felt a smirk tug on his lips, raising an eyebrow. “Something on your mind, Angel?”

Angel pressed his body against his, his lower set of arms wrapping around him. “Mmm, nothin’. Just thought ya smelled real nice.”

“And if we have sex right now I’m going to have to take another bath so I don’t smell like sweat all day.”

“Oh no, that sounds terrible.” Lucifer didn’t need to look at him to know that the grin on Angel’s face was now face-splitting.

As fingers brushed his sides, Lucifer started snickering. Angel’s upper hands danced along his skin, and Lucifer would have fallen had his arms not already been around him. He pulled his legs up to his chest, fingers trying to pull Angel’s hands away. “Husk!” His voice was a gasp between his laughter. “Help me out here!”

Husk laughed, watching them from the mirror where he had been busy retying his bowtie. Giving it a final adjustment he straightened his back, watching Angel mercilessly tickle Lucifer. “You need saving, your majesty?”

“Yes! Husk, ple- ah, please!”

Taking his time, Husk walked over, coming to a stop in front of them. He met Lucifer’s eyes, watching him as tears formed in the corner of his eyes from laughing too hard.

He leaned in close, just far enough distance between them for Lucifer not to accidentally knock his head against his with his thrashing. “I think it’s time for a revolution.”

Lucifer’s eyes widened. “You wouldn’t!”

“I would.”

Lucifer’s laughter grew even louder, bouncing off the walls as Husk joined Angel’s efforts. “Fuck!” Lucifer cried with laughter, kicking his hooves to no avail, having been lifted too far off the ground and finding nothing beneath them. He laughed so hard he couldn’t stop himself from snorting. “Betrayal! Oh how you wound me!”

With laughter so loud, there was really no chance for either of them to even hear the knock.

The door started to slide open.

“Sorry Husk, I just remembered I wanted to ask you about what you wanted to do with the bar during the part… What’re you doing?”

The three of them froze all at once, eyes slowly turning toward the open door.

There stood Charlie, hand on the doorknob, staring at them with wide eyes.

“Um…” Her eyes moved between them, from Angel with his arms tightly wound around Lucifer, who was still barely dressed, face golden and tears running down his cheeks from how hard he had just been laughing. They moved to Husk, with his hands still on Lucifer’s ribs, pushing his sweater up high to find more skin to run his claws across, right above Angel’s hands on Lucifer’s sides. “I, uh…”

Husk let out a nervous chuckle as their eyes met. “I… found your dad?”

“Yeah, I… I can… I can see that.” She stared at them in disbelief, eyes wide as saucers. She seemed to still be processing what she was seeing, what it meant.

Lucifer’s eyes darted between Charlie, Husk and the door. His fingers squeezed Angel’s arms. “G-good morning, Char-Char?”

“You’re… are you… what about mum?”

Angel set him down on the floor, Lucifer pulling down his sweater, taking hesitant steps toward Charlie. “I, I was going to tell you.”

Charlie shook her head, at a loss for what to say. She bit her lip. “Are, are you dating? Is it serious?”

Lucifer reached out, relieved when she allowed him to take her hands in his. “We are. It is. I know this might be hard to take in, but I… they make me happy.”

She looked torn, uncertain. A part of her reality had just been flipped on its head. “That’s… I suppose that’s the most important part.” She turned her eyes to Husk and Angel, who were both feeling increasingly awkward. A hesitant smile made its way onto her face. “Yeah… I… That’s the most important part.”

“Thank you… I meant to tell you, I just… I didn’t know how to.” Lucifer squeezed her hands in his. “Your mum and I, we… what we had, it’s… it’s not coming back. It was over a while ago, even before she disappeared.”

It was obvious that his words made Charlie want to cry, her entire face scrunching up in an effort not to let her tears fall. No matter how much she might have suspected as much, to have it verified still hurt. “I… I understand, dad.”

Lucifer took a step closer, lightly squeezing her hands once more. “I know it’s a lot to process, and this being how you found out isn’t… ideal. But, I really do care for them.”

A small smile tugged on Charlie’s lips. “...I guess sinners aren’t so bad after all, huh, dad?”

Her words drew a startled laugh out of him. He looked over at Husk and Angel, his smile warm, eyes gentle as he watched them. “No, I suppose you were right about that.”

As soon as the door closed behind Charlie, Lucifer dropped to his knees, wilting like a flower, letting himself fall down onto his back. He groaned, hiding his face in his hands. “This isn’t how I wanted to do it…!”

Husk crouched down next to him, elbows resting on his knees. “At least now she knows. Think of it like ripping off a bandaid.”

Lucifer peered up at him between his fingers.

“I just don’t want to disappoint her.”

Angel’s body cast a shadow across his face as he leaned over him, hands on his knees. “She just found out her parents won’t get back together and her dad’s got two brand new boyfriends at the same time, she was gonna be a lil’ disappointed no matter how ya did it.”

Lucifer let out another long groan, hands dropping to the floor beside him. “Do you think she’ll forgive me?”

Husk chuckled, shaking his head. “Baby, there’s nothin’ to forgive.” He stood up, reaching out a hand. “Now get up. You’ll feel better after you get some breakfast.”

Taking it, Lucifer let him pull him onto his feet.

As Husk pulled him into a kiss, he felt himself start to calm down again.

Maybe everything would be fine after all.

Breakfast did in fact make him feel a lot better.

With Husk already having left for the bar, Angel having to go to work, Lucifer stepped into the lobby on his own to try and find Charlie. He found her in front of her whiteboard, ironing out the final details for the party she was planning to hold at the hotel next week.

With her full focus on the whiteboard, she didn’t notice him until he rested his hand on her arm. “Charlie?”

Snapping out of her concentration, her eyes turned toward him. “Oh! Hi dad.” Her eyes darted between him and Husk over by the bar. “Did you… have a nice breakfast?”

“We did, thank you.” He fiddled with his cane, fingers rubbing against the shiny surface of the apple. “I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help with the party?”

Charlie lit up, a smile on her face as she put her hands on his shoulders, pulling him front and center in front of the whiteboard. “Absolutely!”

Lucifer looked up at the whiteboard. Charlie had drawn the floorplan of one of the siderooms on it, various colours mapping out what she wanted to put where.

“I was kinda thinking we could put another bar in there, maybe something where people can serve themselves so Husk can also relax at the party, you know? Maybe you could make something with your magic?”

“I could absolutely help out with that. Just tell me where you want it and we’ll figure something out.”

As Charlie continued to talk about her plans for the party, Lucifer was relieved to find that she didn’t seem to be mad at him. He had worried that after the initial shock of the moment wore off, the shock would have given way to anger, tearing a new rift between them. He knew she had hoped that Lilith would return, that everything would be the same between them, but even if she did come back, things could never go back to what it once was.

Lucifer bit his lip, wondering if he would rock the boat too much if he spoke now.

But really, he should. He had to.

“Sweetie?”

Charlie paused, hand hovering over the whiteboard, fingers by the spot she had picked out for the band she had hired to play. Lucifer forced himself not to look away. “I was thinking… If it was alright with you, if me, Angel and Husk could come to the party as… well, together? I know we would all be going either way, but if I… wanted to dance with them, would that be alright with you?”

Charlie’s hand sank to her side, and for a long, tense moment he wasn’t sure what she would say.

Then, she smiled. The awkwardness in her smile made him see himself in her, and he knew she was floundering just as badly as he was, not knowing how to navigate a situation like this.

“Of course it’s okay, dad.” She reached out, taking his hand in hers. “I wouldn’t stop you from something like that. I… I want you to enjoy yourself too.”

Lucifer’s smile was gentle, brittle. He squeezed her hand. “Thank you, Charlie.”

He felt a little bit of his worry melt away.

As much as Charlie had told him that it was okay, it was obvious that she was struggling with finding normalcy in the situation, still awkward whenever she saw Lucifer with Husk and Angel. It was a large adjustment, one that he could understand was difficult.

But by God did it make him stressed beyond all belief.

He stood in front of his mirror, fiddling with his hair, though there was really no need. Angel had already made sure that it was styled to perfection.

The party was modeled after a masquerade ball, but at a smaller, more easy-going scale, and remembering a throwaway comment he had made, Angel and Husk had managed to convince him to add bunny ears to his look.

Long, floppy bunny ears fell on either side of his face, giving his real ears ample room to breathe.

Staring into his reflection, he felt dread swirl in the pit of his stomach. His fingers gripped the front of his shirt tightly, claws catching on the corset on top of it. Did he tighten it too much or were his anxieties messing with his mind?

He felt fingers brush through the fluffy tail above his behind, looking up to find Husk beside him. “Don’t get lost in your own head now, cottontail.”

Lucifer bit his lip, struggling to smile. “I know, I… I’m just worried that once she sees us arrive together, or dance together, it’ll be too much.”

Husk pressed his body against his, his hands resting on his hips as he looked at Lucifer through the mirror’s reflection. “You know, even if she has a hard time with it now, she’ll get used to it eventually.” His hands squeezed his hips. “You can’t stay away from getting into relationships just cus you’re scared it’ll disappoint her.”

Lucifer turned around in Husk’s arms, fingers clasping as he slung his arms over Husk’s shoulders. “You really know how to talk someone off the ledge, huh?”

“I’ve dealt with a lot of depressed drunks, is what I have,” Husk said with a grin.

“Well, I certainly know a lot about the former.” Lucifer looked up to the ceiling for a moment, as if considering something. “We’ll see about the drunk part later.”

Husk laughed, pulling him into a kiss.

“Hey now, don’t go ruinin’ my hard work before we even get to the party.”

As they turned to look at Angel, Husk whistled. “You look amazing, baby.”

Angel stepped away from the portal Lucifer had opened between their rooms, doing a little pirouette to show off his dress, the gold detailing catching in the light.

He stopped right in front of them, a hand on his hip. “Compliment me more and we’re gonna miss the party.”

Lucifer smiled. “Does that mean I’m not allowed to call you pretty?”

“You’re a cheeky lil’ bastard, aren’t ya?” Angel laughed. He held up one gloved finger. “Okay, you’re allowed to call me pretty, just once.”

“You look very pretty, Angel.”

Angel’s cheeks grew pink, a satisfied look creeping on his face. “If it wouldn’t ruin both of our makeup I’d kiss ya.”

Husk laughed. “Hey now, you can’t go kissin’ him after telling me not to.”

“I said I won’t!” Angel said with a laugh, picking Lucifer’s mask off the dresser. He leaned in close, tying the ribbons behind Lucifer’s head into a bow. “There, all done.”

He placed a gentle finger underneath Lucifer’s chin, tilting his head up. A pleased smile played on his lips. “I told ya the eyeshadow would look good on ya with the mask on. Sure I can’t add some lipstick too?”

Lucifer laughed. “Not tonight, thank you. Maybe later though.”

“I’ll hold ya to that.”

They turned their eyes to Husk, who was standing there with both his and Angel’s masks in hand. “What about you, Husky baby? I think you’d look great in lipstick.”

“I’m sure you do.” Husk’s grin was wide as he motioned for Angel to bend down so he could help him put on his mask. Lucifer took the chance to snatch the last mask away from him.

As Husk noticed the mask now in Lucifer’s hands, he raised an eyebrow. “Hey, what do you think you’re doin’?”

“Getting in on the fun.”

Lucifer grabbed the lapel of Husk’s suit, pulling him down to his height. As he let go, smoothing it out again with his magic, Husk stayed down, allowing for Lucifer to rest his mask against his face. As Husk looked into his eyes, Lucifer felt butterflies flutter in his stomach. He tied the ribbons before he could wind himself up enough to jump him.

He leaned forward, pressing his lips to Husk’s cheek. “You look sexy like this, Husk,” he whispered, catching the quiet purr that rumbled in Husk’s chest.

“Hey, I saw that, sweetcheeks.” Angel’s dramatic gasp made both Husk and Lucifer laugh. “Careful with the makeup!”

Lucifer stuck out his tongue, a mischievous grin on his face. “Husk’s not wearing any, so we’re fine!”

By the time they stepped into the makeshift ballroom, music was already playing. The band was one they had found through Niffty of all people, though no one was really sure how she knew them in the first place, not even Alastor. They had to admit they sounded pretty good though.

“Dad! Husk, Angel! Welcome!” Charlie came up to them, pausing as she noticed their clearly matching outfits. After a second, she spoke again. “You all look great.”

She did a double take as she spotted Lucifer’s ears. “That’s cute.”

“Thank you, sweetie.” He took her hands in his, giving them a squeeze. “You look wonderful.”

Charlie’s lips stretched into a smile. “Thanks, dad.”

“He-e-ey, look who finally decided to show! Good to see ya not sneakin’ around anymore!” Cherri’s voice rang through the room as she came over, grabbing Angel by the hand. “I’m stealin’ him for a while! You’ll get him back later.”

Barely giving Angel time to say bye, she pulled him away and onto the dancefloor. Lucifer wasn’t surprised that she already knew about the three of them dating. If Angel were to tell anyone, it would be her.

Charlie clapped his hands together, eyes growing round with excitement. “I should go ask Vaggie to dance!” She looked around the room until she spotted her. She looked over at Lucifer and Husk. “I’ll see you around!”

Husk bent down, eyes following Charlie’s jog through the room as he spoke. “See, that wasn’t so bad, was it?”

Lucifer’s shoulders relaxed as he heaved a sigh of relief. “I guess you were right.”

He looked around the room. There were several people he had never seen there before. If they were lucky, maybe they would get a few new guests that moved in after this party.

Eyes meeting Husk’s, he offered a hand with a smile. “Would you care to dance with me?”

Husk’s laugh made him smile. “You bet I would.”

It had been a long time since Husk had danced so much. By the time he finally stopped, taking turns dancing with both Angel and Lucifer, he was parched.

He leaned against the bar, picking up one of the champagne flutes standing on one side. He was glad that Charlie and Lucifer had figured out how to keep the bar self-serving so he didn’t have to think about making drinks for people during the party. It felt odd not seeing anyone stand behind the bar at all, though.

He watched a new glass pop into existence as he took a sip of his drink.

He caught movement out of the corner of his eye.

“Soooooo…”

His eyes turned toward Charlie, standing nervously beside him, hands clasped in front of her chest, pointer fingers pressed against each other.

The silence stretched on for a good ten seconds.

“So?”

She picked up a glass of her own, fingers playing with the stem. “...I was kinda wondering, um… How… When did… this happen? You dating my dad.”

“Officially? About three weeks ago.”

Charlie stared deep into the bubbles in her glass, chewing on the inside of her cheek. “And before that?”

“Me and him are a pretty recent thing but him and Angel started fucking pretty soon after the last extermination.”

She nearly dropped her glass at that, Husk internally smacking himself in the face. For a moment he had gotten way too relaxed, forgetting just who he was talking to. There were way better ways he could have phrased that.

Charlie put her glass back on the bartop, hiding her face in her hands. She groaned. “Ooooh my god, now I’m thinking about it.”

“Sorry, princess.”

For a long minute they stood there, uncomfortable and unsure what to say. Then, she finally lifted her head, looking his way. “I’m not really… sure what to think about all this, to be honest. But… I can tell you really like each other, and… that’s what really matters.”

He smiled. “You’ll figure it out eventually. Human families go through divorce all the time.”

She choked on the drink she had finally decided to take a sip of. Coughing, she clutched her glass to her chest. Husk gave her the space to catch her breath. “Sorry, I, I know you’re right but I’ve… been trying not to think about it.”

“I get it. My kids were mad at me too when my wife and I got divorced.”

Her head snapped toward him, Husk looking way too casual for having dropped something so big on her. She didn’t need to know that it felt anything but. “You were married? You have kids?”

“I died an old man, it can’t be that surprising.”

“I guess not.” Her eyes wandered around the room, catching sight of Lucifer and Angel at the other end of it. “I should… go talk to them too.”

“You should.”

As he watched her walk around the dancefloor, he took another sip of his champagne.

Angel felt like he had been dancing on air all night.

It felt amazing getting to dance with the people he loved, not having to sneak around in his own home. And he realised the hotel had become a better home than any he’d had in a really long time. It was a struggle not to lean forward and kiss Lucifer as they stood on the dancefloor, arms around each other.

There hadn’t been a lot of slow dances throughout the evening, so when Angel had heard the notes of the first one of the night, he hadn’t wasted a moment to pull Lucifer flush against him. No matter how tall his heels might be though, Lucifer still had to lift himself up with his wings, giving himself a little more height. He let them withdraw into his back again as Angel’s arms wound tightly around him.

While it did mean that Angel was the only one truly dancing, it didn’t matter. What mattered was having each other in each other’s arms, for as long as the moment would allow.

Lucifer rested his forehead against Angel’s, meeting his eyes as Angel spun them around, around. Angel felt his heart flutter from just how pretty he was in that moment.

A pout grew on his lips as the song came to an end way too soon, the next setting a much quicker tempo. “Aw, I wanted ta keep huggin’ ya.”

Lucifer laughed. “Who’s saying you have to put me down just because the music’s changed?”

“I might just keep ya in my arms for the rest of the night, then.”

Lucifer let his fingers gently graze Angel’s cheeks, cupping them between his palms. “I might just let you.”

They were interrupted by a small duck-like squeak next to them, drawing their attention away from each other. For a moment, they had completely forgotten that they were still in public.

“Char-Charlie!” Lucifer felt his cheeks flush. “Hey! Hi!”

Charlie’s eyes moved between them, her own face growing hot. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt. You looked like you were having a moment so I tried to wait but, um…”

“Yes, oh, well…” Lucifer floundered, his claws lightly gripping Angel’s fur for emotional support. He was becoming increasingly aware of just how tightly they were pressed against each other. “If this is too much, I’m really sorry.”

Raising her hands in front of her, Charlie shook her head. “No, uh, it’s, it’s really cute! Honestly! I just…” She bit her lip, looking up at Angel. “Maybe we could… talk for a moment?”

Angel’s eyebrows flew up. He pointed to his own face. “You and me?”

She nodded.

“Oh, uh, okay. Sure.”

He let Lucifer slide downwards, until his feet met the ground. Lucifer looked between them. Angel could tell that his anxiety was rising. “I’ll, I’ll fetch us something to drink,” he said, looking for confirmation before he hurried off, his heels clicking against the wooden floor as he left them.

Angel shifted, uncertain. “So, whatcha wanna talk about, Dollface?”

“Well…” Her eyes followed Lucifer as he walked over to the bar for another moment, before looking up at him. “I heard from Husk that you and dad have been… together, for a while now.”

“I, uh…” Angel ran his hand through his hair, eyes darting toward Husk, who had been joined by Lucifer by now. “We have. What can I say, he’s… he was a lot nicer than I expected him to be.”

Charlie’s smile was sad, her eyes cast downward. “Yeah… I’m really glad he’s around again.”

Looking up, she took a step closer to him. “You… I see the way you look at each other. It’s… When I said it was cute, I meant it.”

Angel’s hands came up to his mouth to hide just how straight up goofy the smile on his face was becoming. He really had been spending a lot of time with Lucifer, his silly smiles infecting him too. “I… I really like him, Charlie. Me, Husk and Lucifer, we… I don’t know. I… I don’t want to lose them.”

He looked her in the eye, lowering his hands after getting his face under control again. “Ya know, if your mum shows up again we’re not gonna give him back, right?”

Charlie felt herself laugh, despite herself. “Yeah, I, I figured.”

He wondered if he should tell her just how scared Lucifer had been of disappointing her by telling her about their relationship. Of making her mad at him. He bit his lip, eyes moving back and forth between her and Lucifer, who was standing with glasses in his hands next to Husk, clearly uncertain on if he was expected back yet or not. He watched Husk say something that made Lucifer giggle.

His eyes turned back to Charlie. “So, uh, how’re ya feelin’?”

“I’m still processing everything, to be honest.” Her eyes found Vaggie, who was standing nearby, talking to a sinner she hoped might move into the hotel later. A warm smile softened her face as she looked up at Angel. “I’m still happy for you though. Being in love is… It’s amazing. I want that for you.”

Angel’s face turned pink.

She said the word like it was nothing. Like it was easy. The longer she looked at him, the brighter his face turned. “S-stop looking at me like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like…” Angel tried to find the words, but came up with nothing. As he looked up, he happened to meet Lucifer’s eye. Lucifer, who, as soon as he did, smiled at him as if he were the sun.

It did nothing to help his increasing blush.

“...Fuckin’ adorable…” Angel buried his face in his hands as he whispered the words to himself, making Charlie blink, not catching what he had just said.

“Angel, are you okay?”

“Uh-huh. Peachy.” When he looked up, Lucifer had come over, standing right next to Charlie. He held up one of the champagne flutes, offering it to Angel with a smile. Angel plucked it from his hand. “Thanks, sweetcheeks.”

Lucifer offered one to Charlie as well, who shook her head. “I just had some. Thanks, though.” She looked at them, shifting between her heels and her toes. “Hey, dad?”

“Yes, dear?”

“After you’ve finished your drink, would you like to dance with me?”

Lucifer smiled, eyes warm. “Of course I would.”

“Come find me later, then, okay?”

“Okay.”

As they watched Charlie head over to Vaggie, Angel felt the back of Lucifer’s hand brush his. They braided their fingers together, holding on tightly.

Vaggie was the first one to spot him as he came over, pausing her conversation with Charlie. He felt himself melt as he watched the way they had been looking at each other. “Heeey, having a good time? Charlie really did well on this, right?”

She smiled, squeezing Charlie’s hand. “She really outdid herself.” Charlie beamed at her, so happy and relieved that the party was going so well.

“Dad helped with the bar though.” She leaned down to press a kiss to Vaggie’s lips. “I’ll see you later, Vaggie.”

Vaggie held her there, giving her another kiss before letting go, allowing Charlie to stand up tall again. “Have fun, babe,” she said with a smile. She looked at Lucifer. “She’s all yours. Only for a couple of songs though.”

Lucifer laughed. “Thank you.”

As Charlie pulled him to the dance floor, the music changed into a waltz. They looked over toward the band, finding Alastor standing next to them, a menacing smile on his face as he stared them down. As the song turned into a more jazz-friendly version, he finally looked pleased. They watched him accept a dance from Niffty, leaning down to twirl her around.

“Hm. Even he has a sweet side to him, I suppose.” Lucifer held out a hand to Charlie, bowing. “May I have this dance?”

She laughed. “I don’t know how to waltz.” Still, she took it.

“Don’t worry, kiddo, I’ll teach you. I have a feeling you might need it one day.”

He watched her with a smile as a blush bloomed across her cheeks. “Well, um, we have, I’ve, we, we have talked about it.”

He felt a warm smile spread across his lips. She was so precious to him, he was so happy she had found someone to love so deeply. He rested his hand on the small of her back, her hand finding his shoulder as he started to lead the dance.

“I’m so happy for both of you. I’m glad you found each other, being in love is an amazing thing that I’m glad you get to experience.”

As she laughed, he blinked up at her in confusion. “Did I say something strange?”

“No, I just… said something similar to Angel, earlier.”

“Oh.”

He rose into the air with a flap of his wings, allowing her to spin beneath his arm. He lowered himself back to the ground.

“You really are in love with them, aren’t you?”

Lucifer’s cheeks grew hot, stumbling on his feet for a moment, Charlie keeping him from tripping. As he looked up at her, his smile grew warm. “I really… I really am. Very much.”

“I admit I was a little disappointed to learn that you and mum won’t be getting back together, but…” She stopped, the other dancers continuing to move around them. “If you love them, you should hold on to that. I can tell that they love you too.”

She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into an embrace. “Not to repeat the exact thing right back at you, but I’m really happy for you, dad.”

Lucifer felt his worries fade, the stubborn pieces of his anxieties pushed to the side for the time being. He hugged her closer, squeezing her tight before he took a step back, running his thumb across her cheek as he cradled her face. “Thank you, Charlie.”

Lucifer fell into Husk’s arms as they stumbled through the door to Angel’s bedroom, laughing. They landed on the bed, Husk pulling the masks off their faces and tossing them at the vanity. They looked up as Angel hovered above them, leaning down to press his lips first to Husk’s, then to Lucifer’s.

He grinned as admired the stain his kiss had left on their lips, bright and bold.

Husk laughed, pulling Angel down on top of them. “Can’t believe you actually managed not to kiss either of us all night.”

“Me neither.” Angel pulled them close so he could pepper them with kisses, making up for the last few hours where he had given them none.

He sat up, looking down at their kiss-stained faces as his fingers started to undo Husk’s tie, unbuttoning all the buttons in Lucifer’s shirt that the corset would allow. “Good thing we don’t need to worry about that right now.”

Husk reached out, fingers brushing through the soft fur on Angel’s cheek. “No more telling us we’ll ruin your makeup?”

Angel leaned into the touch with a smile. “Not tonight, anyway.”

“Good.”

In a swift motion, he spun them around, Angel landing on his back. Husk’s sharp grin made him bite his lip, pulse quickening.

“Cus I’m planning on ruining it completely.”

Angel couldn’t help a large grin from spreading on his face.

“Oh, I was counting on it.”

He felt the mattress dip as Lucifer sat up, leaning over him, hand resting on Husk’s shoulder. With building excitement he watched Lucifer raise his other hand to gently turn Husk’s head. He leaned in the last of the way, pressing his lips to Husk’s. The kiss was deep, and he could see the way Lucifer’s forked tongue snuck into Husk’s mouth.

He felt his face grow hot as Lucifer let go, leaning down over him. Angel watched him lick his lips, a grin so wide it made the corners of his eyes crinkle on his face. He leaned down the rest of the way, pressing his lips to Angel’s waiting mouth.

He both heard and felt it when Husk pulled down the zipper at the side of his dress, making him smile into Lucifer’s kiss.

Angel raised his hand to the back of Lucifer’s head, pushing him closer. His lower hands found Husk, trailing up his sides, brushing through his fur, Husk having discarded his suit jacket, vest, shirt and tie while he wasn’t looking.

Husk dropped to his side, Lucifer’s lips moving to his cheek to allow Husk the space to do the same on his other side. Angel laughed, feeling one of Husk’s hands move underneath his dress through the opening the zipper had left them, pushing it to the side. He felt Lucifer’s fingers bury deep in the fur on his chest.

He raised his hands to caress their faces, cupping their cheeks so he could pull them back just enough to look at them.

The warmth in the look in their eyes as they looked at him would have made him blush had his face not already been hot. With a smile he pulled them close, holding them there for a moment, breathing in their scents, closing his eyes as he felt their breaths tickle his face.

“Alright,” he said, smile growing as he opened his eyes again. “Now help me get outta this dress and we can let the real fun begin.”
